Alabama Men's Tennis Advances Three Players In The Singles Main Draw Of The ITA Southern Regional Championships

The Crimson Tide sends three players to the quarterfinals round of the singles main draw during Sunday’s matches
TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– The Alabama men's tennis team finished the fourth day of play at the ITA Southern Regional Championships, which are being held at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. Enzo Aguiard, Roan Jones and Filip Planinsek highlighted play Sunday as each won their match to advance in the main draw.
Main Draw
Doubles Round 16
- German Samofalov and Filip Planinsek earned the Tide its lone doubles victory of the day after downing LSU's Ronnie Hohmann/George Stoupe, 8-6
- Roan Jones and Joao Ferreira had a hard-fought battle against Auburn's Jan Galka/Alejandro Moreno, before falling 8-4
- Enzo Aguiard and Matias Ponce De Leon came up short against Nemanja Malesevic and Carles Hernandez of Mississippi State, 8-4
Doubles Quarterfinals
- German Samofalov and Filip Planinsek ended their run in the tournament doubles main draw quarterfinals
- The duo fell to Auburn's Finn Murgett and Tyler Stice, 8-4
Singles Round 16
- Enzo Aguiard highlighted the day with his upset over No. 14 Ronnie Hohmann of LSU, taking a three-set victory (6-3, 5-7, 6-1)
- Roan Jones continued to stay hot as he defeated Fynn Kuenkler of Tulane in straight sets (6-2, 6-2)
- With the win, Jones singles winning streak to nine consecutive matches
- Filip Planinsek took on Mississippi State's Gregor Ramskogler also captured a straight-set victory (6-2,6-1)
