
Pair of Alabama Men’s Golfers Set to Tee Off 2021 U.S. Amateur Championship

Canon Claycomb and Jack Goldasich will tee off 121st U.S. Amateur Monday
OAKMONT, Pa. – Alabama men's golfers Canon Claycomb and Jack Goldasich will represent the Crimson Tide when they compete at the 121st United States Amateur Championship, which opens play on Monday morning.
The Crimson Tide duo both tee off in the afternoon wave in the 312-man field at this year's championship, which will be played on the par 70, 7,254-yard Oakmont Country Club and companion course the par 70, 6,647-yard Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pa.
This year's tournament opens with 18 holes of stroke play on both Monday and Tuesday, with the low 64 scorers advancing to match play, which begins on Wednesday, Aug. 11. Round of 32 and round of 16 match play will take place on Thursday, Aug. 12, followed by the quarterfinal (Aug. 13) and semifinal (Aug. 14) action. The event will conclude on Sunday, Aug. 15 with the 36-hole championship match.
Alabama Notes In The U.S. Amateur
- Claycomb will tee off at 12:15 p.m. CT off Hole No. 10 at Oakmont C.C.
- Goldasich is slated to tee off at 12:55 p.m. CT on Longue Vue Club's No. 1 tee
- Claycomb is making his fourth appearance at the U.S. Amateur, having also qualified in 2017, 2019 and 2020
- Goldasich will be playing in his first U.S. Amateur Championship
- Former Alabama golfer Wilson Furr earned stroke play medalist honors at last year's 120th U.S. Amateur, becoming the second Crimson Tide golfer to earn the honor (Bobby Wyatt in 2012)
- It marks the 21st straight year that Alabama has had at least one member of its current squad competing in the U.S. Am
- It is the 12th time in the last 14 years the Tide has had multiple players competing in the top amateur event each year
