
Golf Channel Preseason Praise: Moresco Ranks 20th Nationally, Alabama Ranks 21st Nationally

The Crimson Tide will begin its season Sept. 13-15 at the ANNIKA Invitational
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – With the 2021-22 University of Alabama women's golf season set to commence in less than a month, returning sophomore Benedetta Moresco and the Crimson Tide earned preseason praise from the Golf Channel this week. Moresco, the reigning 2021 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year, earned a spot at No. 20 in the individual rankings, while Alabama sits at No. 21 in the team rankings.
The Crimson Tide opens its season Sept. 13-15 at the ANNIKA Invitational in Lake Elmo, Minn., which is the start of a competitive schedule that includes four fall tournaments, four spring tournaments, the 2022 SEC Championship and a hopeful postseason run next May.
Eight players (four seniors, three juniors, one sophomore) returned to the Capstone this season, while the Tide welcomed two newcomers (one freshman, one junior), for a team total of 10 members.
In a unique 2020-21 season, then-freshman Moresco led the Alabama squad with a 71.72 stroke average through 18 rounds of golf in six tournaments. Her best finish came at the Gamecock Intercollegiate, where she finished tied for third with a tournament-total 2-under-par 214. The Italian recorded a team-high four top-10 finishes during her rookie season, concluding the year by collecting All-SEC First Team, SEC All-Freshman Team and SEC Freshman of the Year accolades.
