The long-time Elite club coach and Crimson Tide alum joins Dana Duckworth’s staff for the 2021-22 season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second time in her life, Gina Quinlan is packing up and heading east to join The University of Alabama gymnastics program.
Head Coach Dana Duckworth Said
"We are extremely excited to have Gina join our staff. She brings extraordinary depth to our team as a veteran coach with an incredible, process-oriented, technical eye. She is a compassionate woman whose experience and style aligns with the core values of Alabama gymnastics. In speaking with several of her former gymnasts who went on to compete at the NCAA level, it was apparent that she develops genuine, authentic connections with her athletes and had a direct positive impact on the rest of their lives well beyond the arena floor. I have great respect for Gina's coaching path and career development at every level and the success she's brought to every program and athlete she has coached. With Gina on board, I look forward to continuing to build championship teams and amazing young women."
Quinlan originally made the journey 25 years ago when she left her native Mississippi to join the Alabama gymnastics team as a freshman in the fall of 1996. Now, Quinlan, formerly Gina Logan, rejoins the Crimson Tide as an assistant coach after a 20-plus year career in club gymnastics, head coach Dana Duckworth announced Thursday.
Gina Quinlan Said
"I am more than thrilled to be returning to my alma mater to continue my coaching career. The University of Alabama is committed to academic excellence, with tremendous energy, pride, and tradition surrounding our athletics program. The dominance of Alabama Athletics is unparalleled. There are many lessons I learned during my time at the Capstone that I have taken into every aspect of my career and life. Bama Gymnastics has always maintained a huge focus on family and teamwork and that shaped my idea of what a high-level team should be. I am very excited to work with Dana, Ryan, Oleksii and this talented team and to continue to help develop young women not only as athletes, but as whole people. I have spent over 21 years in the club gymnastics community and look forward to furthering those relationships and continuing to recruit more of the nation's best athletes to advance their careers at the Alabama."Â
Quinlan joins a Duckworth-led staff that includes assistant coach Ryan Roberts, entering his fourth year, and volunteer coach Oleksii Koltakov, who is entering his second season with the Tide.
