
Alabama Men’s Tennis Adds Joao Ferreira and Juan Martin to 2021-22 Roster

Both players transferred to Alabama for the coming season and will join the Tide’s four freshmen in the newcomers group
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis program is adding a pair of transfers in Joao Ferreira and Juan Martin to its 2021-22 roster, head coach George Husack announced recently.
Ferreira joins the Crimson Tide after a year at Lynn University, and will be a sophomore this coming season. Martin joins Alabama as a graduate transfer after playing at TCU as an undergraduate.

"Joao and Juan bring a lot of high-level playing experience on both the junior and men's international circuits. They have successfully competed in college and are driven to improve as competitors at Alabama. Dimi (Kutrovsky), Ezequiel (Gils) and I are excited for them to join our four incoming freshmen this fall, and together, make an immediate impact to the continued growth of our program."

- From Belo Horizonte, Brazil
- Transfer from Lynn where he competed for one shortened season due to the COVID 19 pandemic at #1 singles and doubles
- Ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II singles rankings
- Ranked No. 45 in ITF world junior rankings
- Competed in three of four Grand Slam events as a junior – Australian Open, French Open & Wimbledon
About Juan Martin
- From General Villegas, Argentina
- Graduate transfer from Top-10 ranked TCU where he competed at Nos. 5 & 6 singles and No. 3 doubles
- Earned Academic All Big 12 while playing for the Horned Frog
- Current UTR at 13.12
- Played ITF futures events as a junior player reaching an ATP rank high of #1302
Ferreira and Martin join a newcomer group that includes a freshman class ranked in the top-five nationally coming in, including Enzo Aguiard, Zach Foster, Filip Planinsek and German Samofalov.
