Alabama’s Thomas Ponder Named to the GCAA PING All-Region Team

Crimson Tide boast an honoree for 10th straight season
NORMAN, Okla. – Alabama's Thomas Ponder was named to the PING All-Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced during the NCAA Men's Golf Championships. It marks the 10th-straight season and the 12th time in the last 13 years the award has been handed out that the Crimson Tide has had a golfer earn the recognition.
It marks the first such honor for Ponder, who also earned second team All-SEC recognition this past season.
Thomas Ponder
- Leads UA in stroke play at 71.40 and average vs. par (+0.20)
- One of only two players to have played in all 10 events on the year
- Collected six top-20 finishes across the Tide's 10 tournaments, while also sharing the team lead for number of par or lower rounds (17) and the best 54-hole score (204)
- His eight rounds in the 60s ranked second-best on the team this past year
- Ended the season ranked No. 67 in the nation, according to the Golfweek individual rankings
