
Alabama Women’s Tennis Earns NCAA Championships Bid

The Crimson Tide is headed to Waco, Texas to take on Duke in its first-round match
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team didn't have a long wait to discover its fate when it came to the NCAA Championships. The Crimson Tide was among the first teams revealed during Monday's selection show, heading to Waco, Texas, to face Duke in its first-round match.
Alabama (12-12) and the Blue Devils (15-6) will face off on Friday at 2 p.m. CT. The Tide last took on Duke in 2015, with the Tide winning 4-1 during the regular season.
Head Coach Jenny Mainz Said
"Words cannot describe how excited we are to qualify for the NCAA Championships and keep our season rolling. This postseason bid is a true testament to the courage, determination and relentless spirit this team has exhibited. Jonatan (Berhane), Keith (Swindoll) and I are beyond proud of this team and all they've done to keep our season alive."
Alabama at the NCAA Championships
- This weekend marks the Crimson Tide's second trip in a row to the NCAA Championships, after qualifying in 2019
- There was no NCAA tourney in 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic
- This season marks Alabama's 16th NCAA Championships bid, 14th under head coach Jenny Mainz and seventh over the last decade.
- The Crimson Tide made its first trip to the NCAA Championships in 1993
- Alabama earned it first win at the NCAA Championships in 1997, downing Boston College, 5-0
- The Tide made its first trip to the NCAA Championships under Jenny Mainz in 2001, where it faced Duke in the second round
