
Alabama Women’s Golf Team Moves on to Match Play Following a Strong Final Round in the SEC Championship

Emilie Øverås shot 3-under par to lead the way for the Tide in day three
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team finished the third round of the SEC Championship at Greystone Golf and Country Club’s par-72, 6,222-yard Legacy Course. Emilie Øveråsled the way for the Crimson Tide after shooting a 3-under par 69 in today’s round.
Alabama will advance to the match play portion of the SEC Championship. The first two rounds of match play will be played tomorrow, with the championship match taking place on Sunday.
Alabama (280-289-281/850) is in seventh place after posting a team score of 7-under par 281. LSU (272-276-270/818) led the tournament at 46-under par.Individually, Polly Mack finished in a tie for 17thplace, 11 strokes behind individual winner Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of South Carolina.
“It wasn’t a great start for us but I was really proud of how the girls responded throughout the round and kept getting better and better and we made some birdies on the last hole, I think three that counted and they are going to prove to be really valuable,”Alabama head coach Mic Potter said. “I am very impressed with our ability to finish kind of compared to what we have been doing all year. This team just keeps getting better and better. This is a huge step forward for us, I think. Our goal was to get into match play, I think we have a very dangerous match play team so we will see what happens.”
Leading the Lineup
• Emilie Øverås posted her best score of the tournament, turning in a 3-under par 69.
• Kenzie Wright tallied three birdies to shoot a 2-under par 70.
• Benedetta Moresco carded four birdies on her way to a 1-under par 71.
• Polly Mack continued her strong showing, recording five birdies to shoot a 1-under par 71.She finished the tournament ranked first in the field on scoring average on par 5s, averaging 4.17 strokes per hole.
• Rounding out the group, Caroline Curtis finished at 8-over par 80 in her third time around the course.
