
Alabama’s Luisa Blanco Named SEC Gymnast of the Week, Again

The Crimson Tide sophomore posted a 39.700 all-around score to win the all-around against No. 1 Florida
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama sophomore Luisa Blanco was named the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week for the second time in three weeks the league office announced Tuesday, following a big night against No. 1 Florida last Friday.
Blanco, a sophomore from Dallas, Texas, scored a 39.700 to win the all-around against the Gators. She also won the vault (9.925), uneven bars (9.95) and balance beam (9.925) on the night, tying her career-best marks on the vault and uneven bars. She has posted 39.550 or better in her last four all-around appearances this season, winning all four.
This award marks The Crimson Tide's fifth SEC weekly award this season, with Makarri Doggette twice earning Specialist of the Week (1/12, 2/2) and Shania Adams earning Freshman of the Week (1/19) in addition to Blanco's pair of honors.
