The Crimson Tide is sending a contingent to the Jaguar Track to get the outdoor season underway
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track and field team is sending a contingent to the Jaguar Opener in Mobile, Ala., on the South Alabama campus to get the outdoor season underway this weekend.
The meet will be the Crimson Tide's first outdoor competition since 2019 after the 2020 season was canceled before it even got underway due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Alabama will be competing in a mixture of events including hurdles, relays, sprints and distance during the one-day meet.
Head Coach Dan Waters
"This is a chance for to get out there, knock some rust off and get rolling again. It's been a full year since some of our folks last competed and even longer for a few. So, while this is earlier than we usually get the outdoor season going, this weekend will help us down the road."
Getting Started
- The meet gets underway at 5 p.m. CT at the Jaguar Track
- The Crimson Tide is slated to run the men's 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles, 100 and 200-meters and 5,000-meters
- The Alabama women will compete in the 100, 200 and 400-meters, the 4x400-meter relay and the 5,000-meters
