TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Less than a week after winning the 2021 Southeastern Conference team title along with seven individual SEC titles, Alabama gymnastics gathered more awards on Thursday, with three gymnasts bringing home six Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Regular Season All-America honors.
Sophomore Luisa Blanco, the 2021 SEC Gymnast of the Year, led the way for the Tide, earning first-team recognition in the all-around, balance beam and uneven bars and second-team recognition in the vault. Senior Lexi Graber brought home first-team accolades in the floor exercise. Sophomore Makarri Doggette picked up Second Team All-America honors on the uneven bars for the second year in a row.
The Crimson Tide was one of 21 schools to earn at least one Regular Season All-America certificate this season and one of just six to earn four-or-more first-team honors.
In all, 77 Alabama gymnasts have combined to earn 383 All-America honors. That total includes Championship All-America honors as well as Regular Season All-America recognition, which began in 2013.
Gymnasts with the top-eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties) for each event plus the all-around earn First Team All-America honors. Second team All-America accolades go to gymnasts ranked 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS.
After opening the postseason by winning the 2021 SEC team title on March 20, Alabama will play host to the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional Championships April 1-3. The Crimson Tide opens competition Friday, April 2 at 1 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum with the top-two teams from that session advancing to Saturday's regional final, which gets underway at 7 p.m. CT
