
Alabama’s Luisa Blanco Named SEC Gymnast of the Week Following UA Win over No. 2 LSU

The Crimson Tide sophomore posted a career-best 39.825 all-around score, the third highest in school history
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama sophomore Luisa Blanco was named the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday, following a career-night against the LSU Tigers last Friday.
Blanco won the all-around with a 39.825, the third highest all-around score in program history, in the win over No. 2 LSU. Blanco posted career-best scores on all four events and the all-around for the second week in a row, going 9.925 on vault, 9.950 on the uneven bars and 9.975 on both the balance beam and floor exercise.
In addition to her victory in the all-around, she won the floor exercise, uneven bars and balance beam. This award marks The Crimson Tide's fourth SEC weekly award this season, with Makarri Doggette twice earning Specialist of the Week (1/12, 2/2) and Shania Adams earning Freshman of the Week (1/19) prior to Blanco's honor.
Blanco and her teammates return to the road this Friday in Fayetteville, Ark., where they will face the Arkansas Razorbacks.
