Seniors Combine for 58 in Women’s Basketball Road Win at Florida

Crimson Tide picks up 14th win of the season with 77-70 victory over the Gators
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alabama's seniors combined for 58 points to lead the Crimson Tide offensively to a 77-70 road victory at Florida on Thursday. The win lifts Alabama to 14-6 overall and 7-6 against Southeastern Conference opponents, while the loss drops the Gators to 10-10 on the season and 3-9 in league play.
Jasmine Walker had a team-high 22 points, while Jordan Lewis was just behind at 20 in addition to a game-best five assists in her 40:00 of play. Ariyah Copeland rounded out the trio in double figures with 16 points. Megan Abrams had a big game all around collecting eight points, a career-high tying nine rebounds, a career-best five steals and three assists.
Alabama shot over 50 percent in the second and third quarters and finished at 44.8 percent for the game. The Tide also had a successful night from the free throw line, knocking down 16 of its 19 attempts, good for 84.2 percent. Alabama capitalized on Florida's 15 turnovers, scoring 18 points off the Gator miscues.
How It Happened
- Alabama outscored Florida 15-6 over the first half of the opening quarter.
- The Gators then had six unanswered to cut the Tide lead to three at the 2:20 mark.
- Alabama remained in front by a three-point margin, 20-17, following the first 10:00 of play.
- In the second, the Tide pushed its lead back out to nine at the 5:05 mark, but another run by Florida, this time eight unanswered, set the score at 31-30.
- Alabama closed out the half with six-straight points to lead 37-30.
- Two minutes into the third, the Tide took its first double-digit lead of the game following a layup by Lewis.
- Alabama led by as many as 17 in the frame, however the Gators would score 10 unanswered to cut it to seven at the 0:47 mark.
- The Tide bumped it back out to 11 by quarter's end with the score set at 60-49.
- Florida would, once again, challenge, cutting the Alabama lead down to five late in the fourth, however that would be as close as the Gators would get by game's end.
News and Notes
- Walker reached 20-plus points for the 12th time this season, while Lewis did so for the sixth time, with five of those outings coming in SEC play.
- Lewis played all 40 minutes for the fourth time this season.
- Walker has now recorded 21 consecutive games in double figures, dating back to the final game of the 2019-20 season.
