
Alabama Posts Four Top-10 Finishes on Day Two of the Auburn Diving Invitational

Kevin Li led the way for the Tide men with a third-place finish off the 1-meter springboard, while Halia Bower led the UA women for the second day in a row, finishing sixth off the 3-meter
AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama posted four top-10 finishes on Thursday, the second day of the Auburn Diving Invitational being held at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center on the Auburn campus this week.
Kevin Li got day two started off with a third-place finish in the men's 1-meter springboard event, tallying a season-best score of 363.90 points in finals. Li jumped six places between prelims and finals after totaling 288.90 points over the first round of dives.
Hunter Jaynes also posted a top-10 finish off the 1-meter, taking seventh place after accruing 311.25 points in finals. Jaynes moved up three spots in finals after placing 10th with 272.45 points in prelims.
The Crimson Tide also posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the women's 3-meter springboard event. Halia Bower, who was fifth off the 1-meter board on Wednesday, took sixth off the 3-meter with 275.00 points in finals, while Courtney Russo was eighth with 264.40 points. Natalie Donkle scored 240.90 points to take 15th place. Bower was also sixth in prelims after totaling 272.20 points, while Russo moved up five places in finals after finishing 13th in prelims with 240.60 points.
Day One Results
- Halia Bower took fifth place off the 1-meter with a score 266.25 points, moving up three places from the preliminary round, where she was eighth with 249.30 points
- Natalie Donkle also posted a top-10 finish off the 1-meter, tallying 249.16 points to take seventh place, moving up four spots from prelims where she tallied 230.15 points
- Courtney Russo rounded out the Tide's first day of competition, taking 14th place in finals with 236.40 points, moving up one place after totaling 226.55 points in prelims
The Schedule
- Friday includes the men's 3-meter springboard at 11 a.m. and the women's platform at 3 p.m.
- The meet closes on Saturday with the men's platform at 11 a.m.
Crimson Tide Divers
- Alabama's women are led off the 1-meter springboard (283.43) and platform (276.00) by two-time Southeastern Conference medalist Tanesha Lucoe
- Halia Bower leads the Crimson Tide women off the 3-meter board (318.75)
- Lucoe has qualified for the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships off the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform, while Bower has qualified off the 1-meter and 3-meter
- The men will be without rookie Mohamed Farouk, who competed at the FINA World Junior Diving Championships last week, finaling off the platform and taking ninth overall
- Kevin Li scored a season-best of 358.43 off the 1-meter and a 353.80 off the 3-meter coming into the Auburn Diving Invitational
- Hunter Jaynes (284.25) will lead the way off platform
- Farouk has already qualified for the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships off the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform, while Li has qualified off the 1-meter and 3-meter and Jaynes has qualified off the 3-meter board
