
Alabama Swimming and Diving’s Avery Wiseman Named SEC Freshman of the Week

She is the second Crimson Tide rookie to earn SEC swimming and diving’s weekly freshman honor this season, joining Kaique Alves
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama swimming and diving's Avery Wiseman was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.
Wiseman swept the breaststroke events in the Crimson Tide's SEC opener against the LSU Tigers last Friday with times that rank her in the top-20 nationally. She is the second Alabama rookie to earned Freshman of the Week honors from the SEC, following Kaique Alves from the men's team after the Birmingham Southern outing.
Off to a Fast Start
- Started off her first season with the Crimson Tide by posting six wins across the first three meets of the season
- Picked up wins in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke and as part of the 200 medley relay
- Her time in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.44) ranks her ninth all-time at Alabama
- Her 100 breaststroke (1:01.18) ranks her 10th all-time for the Tide
- She is the only freshman ranked in the top 20 in the 100 breaststroke nationally, standing No. 18 overall
- She is also the fastest freshman in the SEC in the 200 breaststroke and is ranked 11th
Next Up
- Following its meet with LSU, Alabama hits the road for its mid-season invitational in Knoxville, Tenn., competing at the Tennessee Invitational Nov. 18-20
