Football Home Finale
Hard to believe we've already reached the final home weekend for our football team. Saturday's game against Arkansas will be the last in Bryant-Denny for the 2021 season, which means we will be recognizing our 15 seniors. Be sure to get to your seats early to help us celebrate another outstanding class.
Also, we welcome back our friends from SEC Network, who will be set up in front of Wade Hall for Friday's Paul Finebaum Show (2-6 p.m.) as well as Saturday's Marty & McGee (8-9 a.m.) and SEC Nation (9-11 a.m.). Fans are encouraged to visit the set throughout all three shows.
Basketball Rolls On
With basketball season underway, there are several opportunities to come out and support the Tide over the next few weeks in Coleman Coliseum. Our men are back in action Tuesday against South Alabama at 6:30 p.m. and Friday versus Oakland at 7 p.m. before heading to Orlando for the ESPN Events Invitational next week. Our women's team hosts Southern Miss on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before hitting the road for Sunday's Maggie Dixon Classic against Duke in Fort Worth, Texas. Following that contest, we have five-straight home matchups from Nov. 24 to Dec. 3. Tickets are available for both our men's and women's games by visiting the Alabama Ticket Office online or by calling 205-348-BAMA (2262).
Soccer Earns First NCAA Win; Advances to Second Round
It was an exciting Friday night for Alabama Athletics and our soccer program as Coach Wes Hart's squad earned its first NCAA tournament win in program history with a 1-0 victory at Clemson. Allie Berk scored the match's lone goal in the opening four minutes, and from there it became a defensive battle for the duration. In the second half, goalkeeper McKinley Crone and the defense held off eight corner kicks and 14 shots on goal by the Tigers to seal the victory for the Tide. Next up, we take on BYU in Charlottesville, Va. on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m.
Cross Country Headed to Nationals
Our men's and women's cross country teams also earned NCAA championship berths over the weekend. The men's team used a second-place finish at Friday's NCAA South Regional Championships to earn an automatic bid, while the women received an at-large bid during Saturday's selection show. This marks just the second time in school history, and the first time since 1994, that both the men and women are advancing to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in the same year. Mercy Chelangat, the defending NCAA champion, won the individual South Regional title, tallying her third victory of the season and her sixth-consecutive cross country race with all coming by significant margins. The men and women will race Saturday morning in Tallahassee, Fla.
Honoring our Olympians
We were thrilled to welcome back several of our Tokyo Olympians and honor them during Saturday's football game. The 22 past and present members of the Crimson Tide in Tokyo came away with five medals and numerous trips to the medal rounds of their respective events. The recognition our Olympians received on the field was a great indicator of the pride we have in their accomplishments on the world's biggest stage.
Final Volleyball Home Series
Our volleyball team has a pair of SEC series remaining on its 2021 slate, first with a trip to Knoxville to take on Tennessee on Thursday and Friday of this week before returning home for the season finale in Foster. For the final series, we will face Ole Miss on Friday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. All matches will be streamed on SEC Network+ and tickets to attend can be purchased through the Alabama Ticket Office online or by calling 205-348-BAMA (2262).
Welcome to the #NextWave
Last Wednesday marked the beginning of the November signing period for the majority of our sports, and we are thrilled to welcome so many new faces to the Crimson Tide. Fans can learn more about our incoming class of student-athletes on our #NextWave thread.
Bryant Society Induction
The Bryant Society is the pinnacle of the Crimson Tide Foundation's Lifetime Giving Society, which was created to recognize the lifetime contributions of donors who philanthropically support Alabama Athletics. Friday evening, we have the privilege of honoring the 2021 class of Bryant Society inductees. The first Bryant Society Induction Ceremony in 2015 honored the original 16 donors whose contributions, at that time, to the Crimson Tide Foundation had reached at least $1 million. Due to the generosity of our loyal supporters, this will be the sixth event giving us the opportunity to formally recognize and induct new Bryant Society members during a black-tie ceremony and dinner.
We are especially excited for the 2021 Bryant Society Induction Ceremony and Dinner as we will honor 15 inductees, the largest class since the first event in 2015. In addition to Friday night's festivities, our inductees will also be recognized on the field during halftime of Saturday's football game. Please give them a round of applause on Saturday to thank them for their commitment to Alabama Athletics. We are profoundly thankful for the generosity of our Bryant Society members and the indelible impact they make on our programs.
