
Alabama Men’s Tennis Has Strong Showing At ITA Southern Regionals Saturday

The Crimson Tide had two doubles teams and three singles players post wins during the day
AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama men's tennis saw two doubles teams and three singles players advance to the next round of the ITA Southern Regionals at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Ala. Both Crimson Tide doubles teams will compete in the quarterfinals Sunday, while three singles players compete in the Round of 16.
The pairing of Enzo Aguiard and German Samofalov posted a pair of victories during the day. The two Tide players went 8-3 against Auburn's Tad Maclean and Josh Raab in the Round of 32 and 8-5 against UAB's Michal Lusovsky and Thanus Spyropoulos in the Round of 16.
Filip Planinsek and Juan Martin rallied for an 8-5 win against Troy's Noah Martins and Javier Llinare. Planinsek and Martin dropped just one game in the Round of 16, topping Boris Kozlov and Nichlas Watson from LSU 8-1.
Two Alabama players recorded a two-set win in singles play as Aguiard defeated UAB's Roman Postolka 6-1, 7-5 and Samofalov defeated Southern Miss' Olmjon Nabier 6-3, 7-6(5). Planinsek fought his way to a three-set victory, taking a 7-6(5) win in the opening set before going 2-6, 6-4 for the victory.
The Round of 16 for singles begins at 9 a.m. CT tomorrow as the quarterfinals start at noon. Doubles action will begin at 3 p.m. CT.
