
Alabama’s Shania Adams Named SEC Freshman Gymnast of the Week

The Crimson Tide rookie won both the all-around and vault to lead Alabama to a road win over Missouri
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama gymnast Shania Adams was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after winning the all-around and vault last weekend at Missouri the league office announced Tuesday.
Shania Adams won the all-around and vault with career-best scores of 49.475 and 9.925, respectively, to propel the Crimson Tide past the Tigers. She was second on the uneven bars and balance beam and fourth on the floor exercise with matching 9.85s. She ranks 10th in the nation on the all-around with an average of 39.375.
Adam's honor is the second league honor in as many weeks for the Tide, with Makarri Doggette earning SEC Specialist of the Week accolade following the season opener against Kentucky.
The Columbus, Ohio, native and her teammates return to action this Friday at home against Auburn starting at 7:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.
