Rettke comes to Alabama after playing four seasons at Gonzaga
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men's tennis added graduate transfer Vincent Rettke to the team, head coach George Husack announced on Wednesday. Rettke comes to The Capstone after spending four seasons at Gonzaga.
"We are grateful and fortunate to have an Alabama native join our program," stated Husack. "Vincent is a high character individual and a fearless competitor. He helped elevate Gonzaga to new heights and is determined to make an impact on our program."
In his career at Gonzaga, the Madison, Ala., native tallied a 78-38 singles record to go along with 33 doubles wins. Most recently in the COVID-19 shortened season, Rettke compiled an 11-9 singles mark, while earning five doubles victories. In his junior campaign, he was honorable mention in Singles All-West Coast Conference. Academically, he has been named an ITA-Scholar Athlete and WCC all-academic multiple times throughout his collegiate career.
Before college, Rettke attended Bob Jones High School and was a two-time Alabama 6A state champion in singles play, winning as a junior and senior, while being named the AL.com Boy's Tennis Player of the Year in 2016.
