Alabama Athletics Places 120 on SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll

The Crimson Tide football team led all SEC squads with 23 first-year honorees
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A total of 120 University of Alabama student-athletes earned a place on the 2020 Southeastern Conference First-Year Academic Honor Roll, the conference office announced Tuesday. Alabama was one of just three schools with more than 100 honorees.
The Crimson Tide led all conference squads with 23 football rookies, while men's basketball was second among SEC hoops squads with seven honorees. In addition to football, the Tide's baseball (11), rowing (11), women's swimming and diving (10), men's track and field/cross country (11) and women's track and field/cross country (11) teams all tallied double-digit honors.
The 2020 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2019-20 academic year. To earn a place on the honor roll a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution and have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA championship segment.
In addition to those on the first-year list, the Crimson Tide had 78, 60 and 127 students-athletes named to the SEC Fall, Winter and Spring Academic Honor Rolls, respectively, giving Alabama a total of 385 for the 2019-20 academic year.
