TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Sarah Duhe is slated to join The University of Alabama gymnastics team in the fall of 2020, head coach Dana Duckworth announced this week.
"On her recruiting trip, you could see that Sarah fit the character of an Alabama gymnast - dedication to the mission, an excellent student and a personality that makes her an amazing teammate," Duckworth said. "We feel she will immediately impact our vault lineup and know that her best gymnastics is yet to come. We are thrilled she chose Alabama for her collegiate experience and look forward to helping become the best version of herself."
A three-time USA Gymnastics regional qualifier, Duhe is a Louisiana state vault champion and a 2019 bronze medalist in the vault at the 2019 Region 8 Championships, where she also took sixth on the floor exercise.
"From the moment I stepped onto campus, I knew Alabama was where I wanted to be," Duhe said. "The family atmosphere, welcoming coaches and team spirit really made me want to be a part of the 'Bamaly!'"
A native of Hahnville, La., Duhe is coached by Hillary Hebert and Randy Scott at Elmwood Gymnastics Academy. The daughter of Elizabeth and Brett Duhe, she is a senior at Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans. Carrying a cumulative 4.4 grade point average, Duhe is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society who serves as a school ambassador and on the student council.
