Alabama Soccer Tops Tennessee, 3-2 in Back-and-Forth Match

The Tide moves to 2-0 in spring season games
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team came out victorious in a hard-fought match against the Tennessee Vols, 3-2, at the Alabama Soccer Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Tide moves to a 2-0 spring mark with three games remaining in the 2020 spring season.
Things got off to a quick start as the Vols got on the board first, finding the back of the net in the 4th minute. However, the Tide responded quickly after as freshman Allie Berk tied it up five minutes later. Later in the 14th minute, redshirt sophomore Gabby Duca would give Alabama a 2-1 advantage which would carry into halftime.
Tennessee opened the second half with a quick goal in the 47th minute, bringing the score to 2-2, but junior Casey Wertz would score the game-winning goal in the 62nd to earn Alabama the 3-2 victory.

The Crimson Tide will host conference-rival Ole Miss in its second of three home matches Saturday, Mar. 28 at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. Kick-off will begin at 3 p.m. CT.
