Claycomb coming off impressive showing in just his second collegiate tournament
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Alabama men's golfer Canon Claycomb has been selected the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. Claycomb becomes the first UA golfer to earn the league's weekly rookie award since April 18, 2018 when Davis Shore earned the honor.

- Playing in just his second collegiate tournament, Claycomb collected his first top-10 finish with a seventh-place showing at the 2020 Cabo Collegiate
- Closed the three-day 54-hole tournament with a 4-under par 209 (70-66-73), which included a second-round total of 5-under par 66 on Monday to match the best 18-hole score by any UA individual of the year
- Finished the event with 15 birdies to lead Alabama and rank second-best in the field, while he also ranked second in par 3 scoring average (2.87, -2) and third in par 5 scoring average (4.33, -8)
- In his two tournaments this spring, he leads the team with a 70.17 scoring average
- In six total rounds played, he has reached par or better in five of them
