Alabama's Luisa Blanco Named SEC Gymnastics Specialist of the Week

The rookie earned the accolade after winning the balance beam and floor exercise with career-best scores of 9.950
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama's Luisa Blanco was named the Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Specialist of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.
The freshman scored a career-high 9.95 on balance beam to earn the event title in the win over No. 12 Kentucky. Blanco also scored a career-best 9.95 on the floor exercise in just her third floor routine for the Tide to win a share of the event title and pace Alabama to a 49.550, its highest team total on the event since 2018.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Blanco is the second Crimson Tide rookie to earn Specialist of the Week this season, following Makarri Doggette, who earned the honor following UA's home meet against Oklahoma.
Blanco and her teammates close their home schedule this Saturday at 7:15 p.m. CT, against archrival Georgia. Tickets are on sale through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) and online at www.rolltide.com.
