
Alabama Freshman Tanesha Lucoe Earns NCAA Championships Berth at Zone B Meet

The rookie totaled 550.50 points over the course of 10 dives between prelims and finals to take second place off the platform
ATHENS, Ga. – Alabama's Tanesha Lucoe finished second off the platform at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in the Ramsey Center in Athens, Ga., Wednesday afternoon to earn a spot at the upcoming NCAA Championships.
In sixth after prelims, the Southeastern Conference platform champion jumped four places in finals to take the silver medal, earning one of the eight platform spots available to the NCAA Championships out of Zone B. She scored 260.30 points over her first five dives, before closing with 290.20 points in finals for a total of 550.50 points on the day.
Lucoe will join the 11 UA swimmers who have already earned a spot at next week's championships which will also be held in the Ramsey Center. She is Alabama's first female diver to advance to the NCAA Championships since 2014.

- Sophomore Shumpei Komatsu made the finals of the men's platform event, finishing 14th, totaling 259.75 points in prelims and 270.90 in finals to total 530.65 overall.
- With Lucoe and sophomore Kevin Li (1-meter and 3-meter springboard) earning spots at NCAAs, it marks the first time UA has sent male and female divers to the NCAA Championships in the same year since 2010.
