Alabama Swimming and Diving Closes Auburn Invitational with Four Top-Two Finishes

Sophomore Cole Brown, junior Meg Peel, freshman Sydney Carlson and sophomore Emily Graham all posted up runner-up finishes on the event’s final day
AUBURN, Ala. –  Alabama swimming and diving posted six more top-five finishes on the final day of the Auburn Invitational, including four runner-up finishes.
Sophomore Cole Brown (200 butterfly), junior Meg Peel (200 backstroke), freshman Sydney Carlson (200 butterfly) and sophomore Emily Graham (100 freestyle) all posted up runner-up finishes on Sunday.
Top-Five Finishes
- Brown closed out the weekend with a second-place finish in the men's 200 butterfly, posting a 1:47.96 in the finals after touching the wall with a career-best 1:47.50 in prelims
- A day after taking the win in the 100 backstroke, Peel took second in the women's 200 backstroke with a 1:57.63
- Carlson was second in the women's 200 butterfly after turning in a time of 2:05.24
- Graham (50.44) and junior Lydia Jackson (50.56) both turned in career-best times to finish second and third, respectively, in the women's 100 freestyle
- Sophomore John Shelstad, who was second in the men's 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley earlier in the meet, took fourth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:00.52
Next Meet
- The Crimson Tide will return to Auburn and the James E. Martin Aquatic Center in full force on Feb. 18, when the SEC Championships get underway
- The SEC Championships run from Feb. 18-22
- It will mark the first time since 2015 that the meet has been in Auburn
