Daija Lampkin Earns Alabama's First SEC Women's Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honor

The junior is the first Crimson Tide track and field athlete to receive the conference award
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – All-American Daija Lampkin has been named the program's first Southeastern Conference Women's Indoor Track and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

- Lampkin marks the first Crimson Tide track and field athlete to receive the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor.
- The junior holds a 4.0 grade point average and is pursuing a degree in public health with a minor in biology.
- The Middletown, Del., native was a CoSIDA Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-American in 2019.
- She is ranked 11th in the SEC in the 60m (7.39) and 19th in the 200m (23.77). Lampkin is a past member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
The award, voted on by league coaches and given out annually since 2004, is meant to honor athletes who excel in both the classroom and athletic competition.

The 2020 postseason begins Friday with the annual running of the SEC Indoor Championships. The Crimson Tide and its conference rivals will converge on the Gilliam Indoor Stadium in College Station, Texas, as Texas A&M hosts the event Feb. 28-29. The meet will air live throughout both days of competition on SEC Network and online on SECN+.
