Alexa Guarachi Begins Australian Open with First Round Victory

Guarachi and partner Kaitlyn Christian defeated Bara/Alexandrova, 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday

MELBOURNE, Australia – Former Alabama women's tennis superstar Alexa Guarachi earned a first round victory over Bara/Alexandrova, 6-1, 6-2, on Wednesday in the 2020 Australian Open in Melbourne, Australia on Wednesday. The duo will advance to take on No. 7 seed Chan/Chan in the second round tonight at 6 p.m. CT.

Guarachi has now picked up three doubles wins in her last two Grand Slam appearances. Earlier this week, she moved up to a career-best No. 54 world ranking in the latest Women's Tennis Association Doubles Rankings.
