HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Seniors Zhe Zhou and Alexey Nesterov completed their first day at the Southern Miss Invitational on Saturday in Hattiesburg, Miss. The duo won their doubles match, while each splitting their singles matchups.
Round-by-Round
- In the first round of doubles, Nesterov/Zhou downed Wang/Peres of Southern Miss, 8-3.
- In the opening action of singles, Zhou cruised to a straight set win over Johannes Klein of New Orleans, while Nesterov dropped his first match to Mats Westkamp of UNO, 7-5, 6-3.
- Nesterov bounced back in his second singles match of the day, besting Louis Delcour of South Alabama, 7-6(4), 6-2. Zhou dropped his second-round matchup to Clement Marzol (USA), 6-1, 6-0.
Tournament Note
- Nesterov suffered his first singles loss of the season as he is now 4-1 in fall play. With the doubles win alongside Zhou, Nesterov improved to 4-0 in doubles competition.
