TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama track and field head coach Dan Waters announced the addition of Mark'Quis Frazier to the Crimson Tide's coaching staff on Tuesday. Frazier, a three-time USTFCCA and NJCAA National and Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, will work with Alabama's sprint group.
Frazier joins the Tide after two seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Barton Community College, helping lead the Cougars to two NJCAA team titles and four runner-up finishes. During his coaching stint at Barton, the Cougars produced 19 national champions. Prior to Barton, Frazier coached at Iowa Central Community College during the 2017 season, helping lead them to an NJCAA team title.
Frazier attended the University of Houston and was an NCAA Championships qualifier in the 100 meters and the 4x400-meter relay and ran on the Cougars' 2012 Conference USA Outdoor Championship squad. He finished his collegiate career at Baylor, earning All-America honors as a member of its 4x100-meter relay squad. He graduated from Baylor with a bachelor's in education in 2014.
Frazier began his career at Barton as part of the program's 50th National Championship during his freshman season. He went on to win the 2011 NJCAA Outdoor 200 meters title with a time of 20.38, the third-fastest collegiate time in the nation at any level that season.
Following his collegiate career, Frazier spent three years in the professional ranks, competing as a member of the 2014 Nigerian world relay team and at the 2015 Commonwealth Games.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Frazier ran for Lancaster High School where he was the 2008 and 2009 district, regional, and state champion, set the 100-meters school record and was a member of the 2009 4x100-meter relay USA Junior Olympic championship squad.
Frazier joins a Crimson Tide program that saw both the men and women finish in the top-10 at the 2019 NCAA indoor and outdoor championships, making them one of only two programs in the nation to do so.
