TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Crimson Tide Head Gymnastics Coach Dana Duckworth announced a trio of Alabama Specialty Clinics that will be held in the month of August.
The first two clinics will be one day with two sessions, while the third will be one clinic stretched over two days. The clinics offer gymnasts and their coaches the opportunity to learn new skills, techniques and drills in a fun, informative and intensive format that will provide great benefit to all involved. More details can be found at www.alabamagymnasticscamp.com and questions can be directed to alabamagymclinics@gmail.com.
The goals of each clinic includes:
- Skill Development
- Teaching Methodology
- Implementation
Duckworth and her UA coaching staff will host a clinic in Tuscaloosa on August 17, and two days of clinics in New York City at New Image Gymnastics on August 24-25. Crimson Tide assistant coaches Ryan Roberts and Bill Lorenz will host the first clinic on August 3, at the Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta.
"Our entire staff has a passion for giving back," Duckworth said. "These clinics are in line with our mission to impact the incredible sport of gymnastics in a unique and uplifting way."
The curriculum and style of the clinics fall in line with the highly successful camps and clinics Roberts has held in years past.
"I was excited when Ryan came to me with his vision and enthusiasm for these specialty clinics," Duckworth said. "This is a new opportunity for gymnasts and coaches to have an educational opportunity focusing on basics, shaping, teaching process, implementation and skill direction. We are working to simplify skill development into an efficient process from physical preparation and drill implementation all the way through to element mastery."
Roberts has led clinics across the country and internationally for over a decade. He is well known for his teaching methodology and implementation and has a proven track record with not only International and USA National Team athletes, but personally as one of the best technicians in the country.
"We are taking some opportunities outside Alabama on a trial basis," Roberts said. "We also look forward to impacting gymnast and coaches within our state and look forward offering these opportunities across Alabama in the near future."
Alabama Crimson Tide Gymnastics Camps and Clinics are open to any and all entrants limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender but these camps are recommended for optional level athletes.
