Alabama Track and Field Duo Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

Senior Connor Ferrentino earned the honor on the men’s side, while sophomore Daija Lampkin earned the recognition on the women’s side
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track and field duo of senior Connor Ferrentino and sophomore Daija Lampkin earned CoSIDA Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America honors it was announced Thursday.
"Our goal at Alabama is to be the best we can be both on the track and in the classroom," UA head coach Dan Waters said. "Our continued success when it comes to the CoSIDA Academic All-America program certainly bears that out. We are super proud of Connor and Daija for all hat they've accomplished and the hard work and dedication that this latest honor represents."
Ferrentino, a two-time member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV team, earned Academic All-America honors for the first time this season after carrying a 3.98 cumulative grade point average on the way to graduating with a double major in accounting and finance and finishing his master's in accounting in May with a perfect 4.0.
Lampkin, a two-year First Team All-American sprinter for the Tide, carries a 4.0 GPA in biology. She earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in her first year of eligibility. In addition, she is one of just six sophomores between the men's and women's lists to earn Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America honors this season.
This season marks the 10th-consecutive year that at least one member of the Alabama track & field/cross country program has earned a place on the CoSIDA Academic All-America squad. Overall, 13 members of the program have earned Academic All-America recognition 20 times.
