Alabama Track and Field’s Daija Lampkin and Connor Ferrentino Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District

Alabama has now placed at least one student-athlete on the CoSIDA Track and Field district squad the last 10 years in a row
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track and field duo of sophomore Daija Lampkin and senior Connor Ferrentino were voted to the CoSIDA Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-District IV teams, it was announced this week. Both now move on to the Academic All-America ballot.
It was Lampkin's first honor and the second for Ferrentino. With this year's honors, the Crimson Tide track and field program has now put at least one student-athlete on the district team 10 years in a row.
Ferrentino, who earned all-district recognition as a junior, graduated with bachelor's degree in accounting in May 2018 with a 3.98 grade point average and a master's in accounting earlier this month with a 4.0 GPA. A member of the Crimson Tide's 2018 SEC Indoor Champion squad, he was the Tide's top runner in the 1,500 meters this spring.
A four-time All-American, who is heading to Austin, Texas for next week's NCAA Championships, Lampkin carries a 4.0 GPA in biology. A member of the United States U20 National Team, she competed at the 2018 IAAF U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland last summer.
In addition to the two from track and field/cross country, the Tide has had 14 from other sports earn All-District honors for a total of 16 overall during the current academic year, including four on the at-large teams as well as three each from football, soccer and softball and one from men's basketball.
