Reyna Reyes Tabbed to SUD Ladies Cup 2019 Best XI

Freshman defender Reyna Reyes led the U20 Mexico National Team
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama soccer freshman defender Reyna Reyes was named to SUD Ladies Cup 2019 Best XI while playing on the U20 Mexico National Team the SUD Ladies Cup announced on Sunday.
The 2019 Sud Ladies Cup was just the second edition of the Sud Ladies Cup women's football tournament, and ran from May 8-18, 2019, in Provence, France. The six participating teams were Japan, North Korea, Gabon, Haiti, Mexico and France. The Sud Ladies Cup 2019 Best XI recognizes the most impressive 11 players at the tournament.
Reyes, who joined the Crimson Tide for the spring semester has represented the Mexico National Team for the past four years. While competing on this year's U20 Mexico National Team, Reyes shined by her versatility and her activity, scoring two goals. The first goal came in the opening game against Japan, and then the defender struck again against Gabon.
"Soccer has always been my passion," freshman Reyna Reyes said. "When I get on the field, I put everything I have on it and in it, no matter who I'm playing with. Being on the Mexican National team has been a great growing experience for me physically and as a person. I hope to continue my future playing soccer and developing as a player each and every day!"
The Garland, Texas, native has earned numerous accolades while playing internationally, as Reyes was named Best Right Back at the 2018 CONCACAF U17 Women's Championship. In 2017, Reyes scored the winning goal to help FC Dallas snag the U16 ECNL National title, 2-1. Then in 2016, she helped the U17 Mexican National Team capture the bronze medal at the International Women's Tournament of Gradisca in San Valentino, Italy. Reyes was named Midfielder of the Year and a two-time Athlete of the Year under coach Matt Grubb.
