
No. 47 Mazen Osama Drops Three-Set Battle to No. 45 Dan Little in First Round of NCAA Singles Championships

Osama lost 6-7(3), 6-3, 3-6 to Dan Little of Utah
ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior No. 47 Mazen Osama fell 6-7(3), 6-3, 3-6, No. 45 Dan Little of Utah in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships on Monday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The two battled back-and-forth in the first set with Osama trailing 6-5, before forcing Little to a tiebreaker. In the tiebreak, Osama led 3-2 when Little came back to win the next five points to take the opening set. The Cairo, Egypt, native bounced back in the second set by winning 6-3 to force a third and final set. In the last set, Little led 4-3 before closing out the match after clinching the last two games.
Osama ends his storied singles career with a 73-52 record. This season, Osama was named First Team All-SEC for the third-straight year and ended the year with 17 singles victories in 2018-19.
Osama and sophomore Patrick Kaukovalta will play No. 17 Dominik Kellovsky and Nathan Ponwith of Arizona State in the first round of the Doubles Championships on Tuesday, May 21 at 3:30 p.m. CT. The match will have live scoring, along with a live stream available on the USTA website.
