
Men's Tennis Adds Marcelo Sepulveda Garza to Program

Sepulveda Garza is the No. 1-ranked junior player in Mexico
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team added Marcelo Sepulveda Garza from Monterrey, Mexico to the program, head coach George Husack announced on Friday.
"We are thrilled to have Marcelo join our program," Husack stated. "He has tremendous character and a competitor's mentality which blends into our culture very well. He has competed at a high level throughout his junior career and yet has the drive to keep improving. Our team will be impacted by his addition and we look forward to welcoming him on campus very soon."
Sepulveda Garza will begin at Alabama in the fall season after being ranked the No. 1 junior tennis player in Mexico. He trained at the Guizar Tennis Academy and was coached by Nicolas Guizar and Alex Hernandez. During his junior career, he ranked as high as No. 126 on the ITF junior boys world ranking list and earned a UTR Rating high of 13.59. Most recently, he was a semifinalist at the Pan American GB1 in October 2018.
In addition, he has won three ITF singles events at the G3 Mexico City, G4 Monterrey and G4 Tampico. He also came out victorious in four ITF doubles events at the G3 Mexico City, G4 San Agustin, G4 Monterrey and G4 Tampico.
