Crimson Tide senior becomes first UA golfer to earn the honor in three separate seasons
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama men's golfer Alex Green was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service team, the league office announced Thursday. In earning the honor, Green becomes the first Crimson Tide golfer to be named to the league's community service team three separate times (2017, 2018 and 2019).
The four-year letterwinner who graduated with a finance degree earlier this month, Green is a member of the University's honors college and has been among the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the duration of his collegiate career. He also was presented with the Alabama Men's Golf Scholastic Achievement Award in 2016.
Green's long list of community involvement includes volunteering at the University of Alabama Special Olympics and serving as a member of the UA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. In addition, he has volunteered his time to visit with and read to elementary and middle school children in the Tuscaloosa community. He also volunteered his time at the Halloween Extravaganza and working with the local Child Abuse Prevention Services.
This past October, Green was the recipient of the fourth-annual Tom Cousins Award, presented to him in conjunction with the East Lake Cup. The honor recognizes a collegiate golfer who best represents the values of the award: excelling in academics and engagement in the community.
Green's next venture will take him to Washington, D.C., where he has been admitted to the Georgetown University Law School.
