TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Three Alabama softball players were selected to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District softball team, including senior Reagan Dykes, junior Bailey Hemphill and sophomore Kaylee Tow.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District distinction is the second-straight for Hemphill and the first for Dykes and Tow. The slate increases Alabama's all-time total to 48 accolades, including multiple honorees in each of the last four seasons. With their selection, the trio advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America voting.
Dykes graduated this semester with a 3.74 GPA, earning her degree in marketing and management. On the field, she has started 51 games as the team's primary catcher. Her 44 career runners caught stealing is tied for the UA record, and her .662 stolen base against percentage ranks as the third-lowest.
Hemphill, a Second Team Academic All-American last season, owns a 3.99 GPA in human development family studies. She has started every game this season and is ranked in the top-five nationally in home runs (22) and RBIs (69). The 22 home runs are three shy of the UA single-season record and one more RBI would make her the fifth player in program history to total 70 in a season.
Tow sports a 4.0 GPA as a marketing major and has earned President's List (4.0 GPA) distinction all four semesters at Alabama. She is second on the team with a .329 batting average and 53 RBIs and is third nationally with 61 walks, averaging 1.03 per game. The 61 walks is tied for second in UA single-season history, just five shy of the record.
