Alabama Track and Field Men and Women Remain in the Top-10 Nationally Heading into this Week’s Home Meet

The men are fifth and the women eighth once again as the teams gear up for this week’s Crimson Tide Invitational held at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium Thursday and Friday
NEW ORLEANS – The Alabama track and field men are No. 5 and the women are No. 8 in the NCAA Division I Track & Field National Rating Index again this week, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced.
The index, a points system maintained by the USTFCCCA, lists the Tide men with 208.91 points, which ranks second in the South region, while the women are credited with 196.88 points, ranking third in the South region.
Alabama is heading into its fifth week of competition and first home meet this week, hosting the Crimson Tide Invitational presented by Beynon Sports on Thursday and Friday.
The Tide comes into the week with 10 performances ranked in the top-10 in NCAA Division I this season, including junior Alize Ford who jumped into the national top-10 after running at 20.53 in the 200 meters at the Battle on the Bayou this past weekend. His time ranks him fifth nationally and second in the Southeastern Conference.
The Tide also put a second women's 4x100-meter relay into the national top-10 last weekend. Sophomore Daija Lampkin, juniors Mauricia Prieto and Symone Darius and sophomore Tamara Clark clocked a 43.79 at the Battle on the Bayou to rank eighth nationally, making Alabama the only school in the country to have two squad ranked in the top-nine in the 4x100.
