Alabama Men’s Tennis Moves Up to No. 19 in Latest Oracle/ITA National Rankings

The Crimson Tide moved two spots from last week’s rankings
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Alabama men's tennis team moved up two spots to No. 19 in the country in the newest Oracle/ITA Rankings released on Tuesday. Senior Mazen Osama and sophomore Patrick Kaukovalta also climbed to No. 9 in doubles, while Osama came in at No. 48 in singles.
Last time out, the Crimson Tide (16-10) bested No. 26 Ole Miss 4-3 on April 18 in the second round of the 2019 SEC Men's Tennis Championships before falling to host and No. 1 seed Florida, 4-1, on April 19.
Osama and Kaukovalta reached the top-10 for the first time as a duo after going 1-1 in the SEC Championships last week. The pair is 14-7 on the year with a 6-3 mark against nationally-ranked opponents. Junior Edson Ortiz earned his first-career singles ranking after coming in at No. 97 this week. Ortiz leads the team with a 16-6 record including four wins against nationally-ranked foes.
Next up, Alabama will wait to hear its name called during the 2019 Men's Tennis NCAA Selection Show slated to begin at 5 p.m. CT on Monday, April 29.
