BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama's Portious Warren earned Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week recognition after bettering her own school record in the shot put for the second time this season during the Crimson Tide Invitational the league office announced on Tuesday.
Warren won the shot put at the Crimson Tide Invitational last week with a throw of 57-10.50 (17.64m), which is the second-longest throw in the nation this season and the best in the SEC by more than a foot. The first Alabama women's thrower to go over 57 feet in the shot put, Warren added six inches to the school mark she at last month's Florida Relays.
The senior continues to build on an indoor season that saw her win the SEC shot put title and finish third at the NCAA Championships.
