Sam Fischer Named to the SEC Men’s Tennis Community Service Team

The sophomore has volunteered for a variety of organizations in the Tuscaloosa community
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Sam Fischer was named to the Southeastern Conference Men's Tennis Community Service Team the league office announced on Thursday.
Fischer has played a special role in the Tuscaloosa community this year. The sophomore volunteered with Special Olympics working alongside special needs kids to practice sports such as football and basketball. He has also spent time with the Capstone Village Retirement Community through participating in events with the elderly at the Capstone Retirement home.
Through the months of July-December, he volunteered nearly every other week at the DCH hospital in Tuscaloosa. He worked in CSP sorting and sterilizing surgical tools and filling orders for the OR unit. He spent time in the fall with Habitat for Humanity working alongside his teammates to help build a house for those in need.
Furthermore, he volunteered for Beat Auburn Beat Hunger where he helped supplying food cans in an effort to prevent hunger nationally. He has also spent his time reading to first and second graders at local elementary schools and instructed boys and girls at local tennis clinics.
The 20th-ranked Alabama men's tennis team is back in action tomorrow for Senior Night at 6 p.m. CT at the Alabama Tennis Stadium against No. 47 Arkansas to close out the regular season.
