KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 20-ranked Alabama men's tennis team came up short against No. 15 Tennessee, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Goodfriend Tennis Center. With the loss, the Crimson Tide moves to 13-8 overall and 3-6 against Southeastern Conference opponents, while the win improves the Volunteers to 13-6 on the season and 5-4 in league play.

Tennessee took a 1-0 lead after winning on two of the three doubles courts.

The Volunteers picked up the first two wins in singles on courts one and three to take a 3-0 lead in the overall match score. Junior Edson Ortiz responded on court two, upsetting No. 87 Adam Walton in straight sets to keep the Crimson Tide in contention, 6-2, 6-4.

All eyes turned to court six, where sophomore Jeremy Gschwendtner pushed it to three sets to keep the match alive, but Tennessee's Luca Wiedenmann would hold on from the No. 4 spot, edging out sophomore Riccardo Roberto, 6-3, 6-4, to give the Volunteers the team victory.

Next up, the Tide returns home to host No. 2 Florida on Friday, April 5 at 6 p.m. CT and No. 18 South Carolina on Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m. CT.
