Alabama Track and Field Men Third and Women 12th in Preseason Outdoor Rankings

The Crimson Tide is coming off an indoor season that saw the women finish seventh and the men eighth at the NCAA Championships
NEW ORLEANS – The Alabama track and field men are No. 3 and the women are No. 12 in the preseason outdoor NCAA Division I Track & Field National Rating Index the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday.
The rankings come less than two weeks after the Crimson Tide women finished seventh and the men were eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships, which were held in Birmingham, Ala.
The index, a points system maintained by the USTFCCCA, listed the Tide men with 227.03 points, and are ranked No. 1 in the South region, while the women were credited with 154.84 points and are ranked fourth in the South region.
Alabama got the outdoor season underway last Friday at the Jaguar Opener on the South Alabama campus and returns to action this Friday at the Florida State relays in Tallahassee.
