The sophomore also posted a career-best score off the 3-meter board with 414.65 points
AUBURN, Ala. – Sophomore Kevin Li led Alabama swimming and diving to a strong showing at the Auburn Diving Invitational, the Crimson Tide's last competition of 2019.
Li won the 1-meter springboard event, after tallying 353.80 points in finals, more than 14 points ahead of the field. He was also first after the preliminary round of the 3-meter event, totaling a career-best 414.65 points, before finishing second in finals with 397.75. Li closed the competition by finaling off the platform, taking eighth with 279.55 points.
The invitational served a combined purpose of both a competition and training trip for the Tide, which has been somewhat limited this fall due to the renovation of the Alabama Aquatic Center. While the divers have been able to train the springboard events in the new outdoor pool, it has had to hit the road to train off the platform until the Tide's indoor pool reopened this month.
