TULSA, Okla. – Junior Patrick Kaukovalta began the singles qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championships with a straight-set win over against No. 15 seed and No. 73 in the country Karl Poling from Princeton, on Monday in Tulsa, Okla.
Round-by-Round
- Kaukovalta took control in the first set with a 7-5 win, before dominating the second, 6-2, to move onto the second round of the qualifying draw.
- With the first round of matched down, the 128-player draw shrinks to 64 players vying for 16 spots in the main singles draw set to begin on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Tournament Note
- The Espoo, Finland, native picked up his third career win over a nationally-ranked opponent.

- Kaukovalta will play Riley Smith from USC tomorrow morning in the second round of action. Two rounds of singles will be played tomorrow.
