
Men’s Tennis Makes Short Trip to Birmingham for CCB Collegiate Invitational

Alabama is co-hosting the fifth-annual tournament at the Country Club of Birmingham
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men's tennis will make the short drive to Birmingham for the fifth annual CCB Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham on Friday, Nov. 1 and play through Sunday, Nov. 3. Freshmen Marcelo Sepulveda Garza and Avi Shugar, along with juniors Jeremy Gschwendtner and Sam Fischer will compete in the weekend event.
Tournament Info
- Teams in the tournament include Alabama, Ole Miss, South Alabama, Samford, UAB, Louisiana, ETSU, Lipscomb, UAB, Tulane and Belmont.
- Singles matches will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. CT. The second round of singles will start at 1 p.m., while doubles play will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
- Sepulveda Garza will take on Michal Lusovsky of UAB, while Gschwendtner is set to play against Jorge Ortegon of Lipscomb in the Crimson Singles Draw. In the White Singles Draw, Shugar will compete against Pedro Uribe of Lipscomb, while Fischer has a matchup against Daniel Janko of UAB.
- In doubles on Saturday, Gschwendtner/Garza has a match against Dworak/Gilheany of Louisiana and Fischer/Shugar are set to play against Pasini/Puric of UAB.

- Fischer has won his last four singles matches and has an 8-1 record which is second-most on the Alabama squad.
- Gschwendtner/Garza are tied for the best doubles record on the team with a 5-1 mark in the fall.
