
Alabama Gymnast Shallon Olsen Set for World Championships

The sophomore is competing at her third World Championships as part of Team Canada after winning a silver medal on the vault at last year’s Worlds
STUTTGART, Germany – After getting the fall semester started, Alabama gymnast Shallon Olsen is in Stuttgart, Germany this week, competing at the World Championships as part of the Canadian National Team.
The qualification round gets underway Friday with team finals on Oct. 8. The women's all-around final will be held on Oct. 10, while event finals are Oct. 12-13.
A 2016 Olympic vault finalist, Olsen earned silver at the 2018 World Championships, becoming the first Canadian woman to earn a vault medal at Worlds. She posted a score of 14.516 to take second, with Team USA's Simone Biles winning gold. She finished seventh on the vault at her first Worlds in 2017.
At Alabama, Olsen earned Scholastic All-America honors as well as All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman recognition as a rookie in 2019.

- Olsen competed at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where she finaled on the vault
- She is competing at her third World Championships (2017, 2018 and 2019)
- At this summer's Pan America Games, she helped lead Canada to a silver medal in the team competition while earning bronze on the vault
- Triple medalist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, taking gold in the team competition and on vault as well as bronze on the floor exercise
