TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – As the Crimson Tide gymnastics team gets classes underway on Wednesday for the spring, head coach Dana Duckworth's squad once again finds itself coming off a strong fall semester academically.
"As a staff, we are extremely proud of the hard work our ladies put into everything they do, whether it's in the gym, the classroom or in the community," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "That hard work paid off once again this fall with an outstanding commitment toward their academics."
As a team, Alabama carries a 3.75 cumulative grade point average in the spring semester with a total of 16 gymnasts earning better than a 3.0 grade point average, 11 coming away with a 3.5-or-better GPA, eight scoring better than 3.7 and three posting a 4.0 for the semester.
Junior Maddie Desch and freshman Shallon Olsen both received President's List (4.0 GPA) honors in the fall. Senior Abby Armbrecht earned a 4.0 of her own while pursuing a master's degree in digital and social media marketing. Graduate school does not offer President's List honors.
Freshman Emily Gaskins, senior Angelina Giancroce, sophomore Lexi Graber, freshman Jensie Givens, senior Ariana Guerra, freshman Griffin James, sophomore Bailie Key and junior Shea Mahoney all earned Dean's List (3.5-or-better GPA) accolades in the fall. In addition to perfect GPAs by Armbrecht, Desch and Olsen, Gaskins, Giancroce, Graber, Givens, James, Key and Mahoney all tallied fall GPAs better than 3.80.
After opening the season with a quad meet win last Friday, the Tide returns to action this Friday in another quad meet starting at 7:30 p.m. CT, when it hosts Michigan, Denver and Bowling Green State in Coleman Coliseum.
