
Edson Ortiz Earns Bid to Main Draw of 2018 Oracle ITA National Summer Championships

The rising junior finished tied for fourth in this summer’s Points Race
TEMPE, Ariz. – Rising junior Edson Ortiz finished tied for fourth in the 2018 Oracle ITA Summer Circuit Points Race and earned a bid to next week's National Summer Championships, which will be held August 10-14 at TCU at the Bayard Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Ortiz will take part in the main draw of singles play, while he and fellow teammate Sam Fischer will also compete in the doubles tournament. Fischer looks to earn a spot in the main draw as he is set to compete in the qualifying rounds of the event.
Players that concluded the Points Race in the top five (ties included), garnered bids and the travel reimbursement into the National Summer Championships main draw. The National Summer Championships is a prize-money event, with $20k being distributed among the men's and women's singles and doubles divisions.
In addition to the prize money, the men's and women's singles and doubles champions receive a wild card into the ITA All-American Championships main draw, while the finalists earn a wild card into the qualifying draw.
